Frankie Montas and Lou Trivino are acquired by the New York Yankees

The Yankees signed a deal with starter Frankie Montas and reliever Lou Trivino on Monday after buying Andrew Benintendi from the Royals on Wednesday.

The Yankees already had a busy deadline to acquire Frankie Montas and Lou Trivino.

Montas, 29, is a right-handed starter who has shown a great deal of excellence since signing with Boston in 2009.

But despite being a solid performer, Montas has seemed like an inevitable business candidate for some time now.

This season, Montas has allowed 104⅔ innings of 3.18 ERA balls with 28 walks, 109 strikeouts and a dozen home runs.

The year 2021 looks like a success for Montas, as it was the first time in his career that he played more than 100 innings in a season despite multiple injuries.

Montas was traded to the Chicago White Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers and Oakland before moving to the Yankees.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Montas' talent level, especially in the last few years, has improved significantly.
